The crash occurred at 10:45 a.m. when a 2007 Nissan Altima crossed the center line while negotiating a westbound curve on N.D. Highway 15 around 12 miles west of Thompson, N.D. The Nissan collided head on with an eastbound 2008 Chevrolet Uplander.
A former University of North Dakota football player has pleaded guilty for his part in dealing marijuana. Demon Taylor, who was an offensive lineman for the Fighting Hawks, entered an open plea Thursday in Grand Forks District Court to a Class B felony of possessing marijuana with intent to deliver or manufacture and possessing drug paraphernalia. A Grand Forks man charged with attempted murder in a convenience store shooting last summer has pleaded guilty to reduced charges. Jody Christopher Bergland Jr., was sentenced Tuesday, Jan.16, in Grand Forks District Court to five years in prison for aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon, a Class C felony. He initially was charged with a Class A felony count of attempted murder and reckless endangerment, a Class C felony, but the plea agreement downgraded the more serious charge.

No injuries were reported after a small fire started between the floor and ceiling of apartments in northeast Jamestown Monday afternoon, according to the Jamestown Fire Department. The department was sent to 610 11th St. NE at 5:07 p.m. on a report of a fire between the floor and ceiling of two apartments. A heat gun was being used to thaw pipes in the apartment building, said Lt. Sheldon Mohr, Jamestown Fire Department training officer.

The Fargo Landfill will be closed Thursday, Jan. 11 due to extreme wind. Debris can not be properly maintained in trucks with high winds and can often blow away from the landfill.

A fire broke out at Langdon's general store on 802 3rd street at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. Crews arrived on the scene and saw flames shooting through the roof of the building. An insurance company is also attached to the building and employees were able to run inside and save some things that were in it.

A Stanley, N.D., man died Wednesday following a crash with a dump truck in Mountrail County, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol. The crash occurred at 11:38 a.m. when the 95-year-old driver of a 2016 Ford F150 was traveling west on U.S. Highway 2 about half a mile west of Stanley. The Ford lost control and began to fishtail into the median but the driver was able to steer the truck back onto the roadway.

A northwest North Dakota man who claims that Divide County Sheriff Lauren Throntveit was intoxicated while investigating a shooting earlier this year has filed a complaint against him. Douglas James of Crosby, who also claims the sheriff drinks on the job, submitted a formal complaint to the North Dakota Peace Officers Standards and Training Board last week. The board will hold a hearing on the complaint in Bismarck on Feb. 7, Duane Stanley, the POST board's executive secretary, said.
Jamestown Rural Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on Christmas Day. Stutsman County Communications Center dispatched JRFD to a report of a car on fire on U.S. Highway 52 at mile marker 260 at approximately 5:30 p.m. The call was near the Parkhurst Recreation Center turnoff across from the Agri-Cover facility, according to JRFD Chief Ben Maulding. Two JRFD trucks and six firefighters were on scene at 5:42 p.m., and cleared the scene with no incidents or injuries at 6:18 p.m.
