A Grafton man accused of engaging in sexual acts with a child pleaded guilty to a lesser charge Tuesday, Feb. 20. Anthony Soliz Herrera Jr., 37, will served no jail time after agreeing to a plea deal in Walsh County District Court, State's Attorney Kelley Cole said Wednesday. He was scheduled to go to trial Tuesday to face two Class AA felony counts of gross sexual imposition, both of which carry a life sentence.
A man is in jail after police say he shot at a woman and a bullet went through a neighboring home in West Fargo. 44-year-old Chad Ralph of West Fargo is facing charges of reckless endangerment and preventing arrest. A West Fargo man is suing the Oxbow Golf and Country Club and several individuals, claiming they damaged his reputation and real estate dealings by spreading false allegations that he engaged in "rampant use of cocaine" at the club. A woman was detained after an incident early Tuesday morning, Feb. 13, in which a shot was fired from a gun into the ceiling of a residence on Center Street, the West Fargo Police Department reported. Police responded to a firearms disturbance call about 2:10 a.m. in the 500 block of Center Street. When they arrived, they discovered that a female had fired one shot from a firearm into the ceiling of the residence. Officers then detained the female, whose name and age were not released, the report said.
Fargo Police say a man with a rifle tried to rob the Tesoro off of 32nd Avenue in South Fargo. The suspect walked in, wearing a mask, and carrying a long rifle on Sunday night around 8:30 p.m.

A Kansas man was injured Tuesday in a McKenzie County rollover crash, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol. The crash occurred at 10:15 a.m., when a southbound 2017 Drillmec Workover Rig on N.D. Highway 68 about 10 miles south of Alexander, N.D., entered the ditch, returned to the roadway and flipped onto its side, blocking both lanes, the patrol said.

A former University of North Dakota football player has pleaded guilty for his part in dealing marijuana. Demon Taylor, who was an offensive lineman for the Fighting Hawks, entered an open plea Thursday in Grand Forks District Court to a Class B felony of possessing marijuana with intent to deliver or manufacture and possessing drug paraphernalia. His sentencing date has been set for March 5, and he faces up to almost 11 years in prison and a $23,000 fine

A Grand Forks man charged with attempted murder in a convenience store shooting last summer has pleaded guilty to reduced charges. Jody Christopher Bergland Jr., was sentenced Tuesday, Jan.16, in Grand Forks District Court to five years in prison for aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon, a Class C felony. He initially was charged with a Class A felony count of attempted murder and reckless endangerment, a Class C felony, but the plea agreement downgraded the more serious charge.

No injuries were reported after a small fire started between the floor and ceiling of apartments in northeast Jamestown Monday afternoon, according to the Jamestown Fire Department. The department was sent to 610 11th St. NE at 5:07 p.m. on a report of a fire between the floor and ceiling of two apartments. A heat gun was being used to thaw pipes in the apartment building, said Lt. Sheldon Mohr, Jamestown Fire Department training officer.
